The Terror and the Time
Directed by Rupert Roopnaraine and made by the Victor Jara Collective, the film was produced in Guyana, completed in New York, and released by Third World Newsreel in 1978. An experimental and lyrical documentary film, it is based on Guyanese poet Martin Carter’s Poems of Resistance which chronicle political conflict and ideological struggle around the suspension of the constitution in British Guiana in 1953. Local events are situated within the context of the Cold War
